My Pink Squares for the "Cause"

I worked on the pink squares to-day and now have them finished.I used my Embellisher machine to do some and along with some bits of this and that and some buttons and beads I think they turned out nicely. I hope you like them Monica. I thought maybe I made too many but you did say if there were extras you would make a quilt too.I will mail them to you pronto!
It was really a pleasure to be a part of this project and thank-you so much for inviting me to share the experience.

A Mellow Yellow Day

Every year in January my quilt group"Mellow Yellows" take a trip to Stratford Ontario Canada To deliver a quilt. Our quilt is a donation to "The Quilt", an auction with all the proceeds going for breast cancer research . We plan a time when we can all be to-gether and work on the quilt . It usually takes 3 or 4 get to-gethers to finish the project..It's something we take on with love and hope. The day to-gether is special and we deliver the quilt and then spend the rest of the day having lunch and shopping.I thought you might like to see this years donation. We chose a masculine palette the last couple of years, which has proved successful. Last years quilt brought in $1500.00.. we were soooo Happy.
We are left to right. Heather Stewart(quilt teacher) Karen Cole(Long Arm Quilting Business) Maggie Robinson....(.ME!! Fibre/doll artist and Beader who just had cataract surgery last week)and Carol McLean(International quilt teacher.
We have been doing this project for I think 7 years and enjoyed every minute.BTW two seated are young enough to be my daughters..... Now shouldn't I be the one sitting!! hee hee

UNDER THE SEA

This is my recent project on my Embellisher. It is the second journal cover made with this technique. The first one I used felt for the background and it ended up too thick. The background for this one is a lovely batik and although it was a bit on the lightweight side, I think it was a better choice. A few beads to represent bubbles and a grosgrain ribbon with a fish charm at the bottom makes a nice bookmark.
I'm really pleased with this one.
The first one I did will be turned into a small wallhanging.. Stay tuned.

TRIBUTE TO A QUILTER

Meet, Anne Larock,of Ingersoll, Ontario Canada.The clippings tell the story.( Click on the picture and it will enlarge it so you can read it.)She is seen here with her little family. English born, this lady has been affiliated with the quilt world for many years. She helped establish quilting here at the Creative Art Centre. Anne taught quilting for many years.She was honored by the quilt world when one of her quilts was chosen as a gift to Prince Charles and Lady Diana of England. You can see the write up here in one of the pictures.
Anne's daughter arranged this tribute to her mother as a surprise! Ann thought she was coming to the gallery to see an art show. Some of her quilts are shown here. The hand quilting on her quilts is absolutley perfect. It was a pleasure to meet Anne, and although she does not quilt anymore, the memories linger on. My husband enjoys all these openings and can be seen enjoying the display.

CREATIVE ARTS CENTRE

I though you might like to see where I spend a lot of my time. This is the Creative Art Centre located in a little town called, Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada. Population is around 11,000.
My Husband and I live in this small town and LOVE it!


This building houses several different areas of the art world. We have a gallery where artists are selected to show their work.The shows usually change every month and sometimes sooner We have a room where the quilters hold their Quilt Guild Mettings once a month.Membership in the guild is over 2oo members.I am secretary for the guild (Upper left Picture is me!!!)We have our own computer loaded with all kinds of programs and we also have a large library of books.
We can use this room anytime we want as long as there are no classes or workshops scheduled. The quilter's room is also used by the fibre arts group. Every Monday and Thursday evenings the members can come bring their lunch and enjoy fellowship and work on anything they want.These are the pictures I have included since these are the areas I frequent.
There is also a gift shop, a room for the potters with several wheels to work on. Classes in every area are going on all the time...I sometimes teach a quilt or a doll class.It is just the BEST here and I have a lot of fun with my friends.

EMBELLISHER FUNSIES!

Hi Everyone,
Thought you might like to see me working on a journal cover using the Embellisher Machine. It is loaded with 7 needles and does a great job making fibre art....I'M IN LOVE WITH IT!!!! When you lay a piece of fabric or lace or anything you want to put down, you put the pedal to the metal and the needles punch the fibres to-gether with no chance of separating without a sruggle at least.
The possibilities are endless.I think you could decorate jeans or a jacket with this technique or heck..... even DH underwear,,HAHAHAHHAHAHA
This piece was done using felt as a background. I wouldn't use the felt for a journal cover again since it was too bulky at the corners to keep it neat. The Queen of Hearts was done on a broadcloth base and it was easier to get a nice sharp finish when sewing the corners.
The theme for this one was underwater and as soon as I sew some fish on the piece along with some beads I will post another picture so y'all come back!!

QUEEN OF HEARTS JOURNAL

I treated myself to an Baby Lock Embellisher Machine for my birthday in October, and believe it or not I didn't get around to using it until yesterday!!!!!
Well!!!!! I didn't realize what I was missing. I spent the day doodling around with the fabric and it started looking like a queen( In my mind anyway!), so I added a few hearts , a face cabochon and a hand.... some beads and VOILA this is what I ended up with.."QUEEN OF HEARTS" Isn't she lovely!!??
The Embellisher machine uses no thread It has a circle of 7 barbed needles, and when you step on the pedal it punches the fabric or wool rovings or any pretty bits you want to add onto the base fabric. It is embedded so tightly it won't come out ... imagine! and NO THREAD!! I can see where i will be having more fun with this in the future so stay tuned.... BUT what I really wanted to say was I will be including this Journal in my give-a-way for entering the reindeer contest. If you haven't played the game make sure you do so your name can go in the pot for the draw on New Year's Eve....GOOD LUCK.
