Crazy Patch Bookmarks

I was trying to think up some small items for the Studio Tour
nf I thought perhaps some really nice bookmarks would be nice. Lots of times you need a small tuck in gift for a special person.
Sometimes small items for a good price are very popular... anyway..... what do you think of this??

WILD WOMEN

I am part of a Studio Tour in October, so I thought I better get busy and get some things ready. I decided on some WILD WOMEN to begin with . A project like this lets creativity flow madly which I love... I used

some silks, colorful wool ..beads and with the charms I used some alcohol inks to color them. The backing is ultra suede which holds the pin back.... Isn't she "HOTTIE"?

TINY TEDDIES

I have been working on some teenie weenie teddy bears. They are all fully jointed and measure about 3 inches. These are all hand sewn since the machine just eats them up!!!!

I intend togive each of them a miniature quilt and perhaps sit them on a pincushion... I am not at that point yet. I have to have them finished as one of my offerings for the studio tour in the fall....

I'M BACK

HERE WE ARE AT CRIEFF .....We have been coming here for the past few years every June. It is a wonderful peaceful haven where we enjoy each other's company,exchange gifts, sew, eat,read or just nap!! The House of Prophet

is one of many buildings on the property and it dates way back to the 1800's

Karen finished this quilt isn't it beautiful. It is a raw edge applique...Stunning Karen!
Karen got these quilt blocks at a Mennonite relief sale. She put them to-gether and look how lovely they look. A real treasure.

Here I am grabbing a few rays of sunshine... I needed a break from the project I was doing.

This is the quilt I am making.

It is unique as the sashings are 9-patches.
I am sewing on my Singer Featherweight machine. It is the first machine I owned. My DH bought it for me in 1956. I sewed clothes for my 4 kids and myself along with curtains and anything else I made. It has been a real little workhorse. I love to use it when I travel as my computerized Bernina and Baby Lock machines are so heavy to lug around.I spent the whole time at retreat working on these 9-patches, as I needed to make 175 blocks and then add the 700 half square triangles!!!!

I can now get on with the blocks which are hand applique which is one of my favorite techniques.

We really enjoy this sunporch where we sew. They set up 4 large tables which we work on. Perfect set-up. so bright and cheery.

Heather was selected for "Teacher of the Year" with the Canadian Quilters Association. It is our big conference once a year here in Canada.We thought we would have a little ceremony just for fun and surprise Heather .We gave her a big container of Smarties... which is her fave, along with fur cape and tiara. Signs. balloons and streamers decorated the sign "Your Teacherness" which is what we allowed to address her now!!!!! hahahahhahahaha

Here is Karen in the kitchen . She makes us eggs benedict the first morning ... Oh my they were good.... (PS.... note the apron Karen is wearing... well she made each of us one the same... Oh what fun!!!!)

so that it for this year. My camera was not co-operating and I missed a lot of shots of us opening our gifts and more...sigh.... I will do better next time...

QUILTING BEE

This is one of my favorite minis that I made. It is appliqued and measures 10" ... Hand appliqued and hand quilted...

Japanese Lanterns

This miniature quilt Measures 8". The japanese lantern blocks measure 1 1/2" and made out of oriental fabrics as is the borders.The little triangle piece is attatched with beads and finished off with a tassel at the bottom.

MINIATURE QUILT

This miniature quilt measures 10"square. I really enjoyed making it. I call it "There's a Bird in my Cabin"

This parcel arrived in my mailbox and I could hardly wait to open it. I managed to get control of my excitement as I wanted to take a picture of the lovely package that was inside. Look at the beautiful pansy wrapping paper and the tag all tied up with gorgeous silk ribbon..
This came to me from Pat Winter... my crazy patch mentor.... She has been so inspiring and encouraging on my crazy patch journey which is just beginning for me .
The kit is full of so many wonderful things to work with,,, beautiful fabrics in pinks, mauves and greens.... Silk ribbons in complimentary shades, all hand dyed by Pat,,,, beads, lace , special lace motifs and some of the lovely old fashion girls and flowers that I love so much.. So far I have just stroked and looked at all these wonderful pieces while trying to think about how I will use them..
Whatever I decide on will be very special... Thanks Pat for sharing your expertise and your friendship.
