Beautiful Sky

Icouldn't believe the sky this evening. It cast a yellow hue far and wide...Unfortunately
the pictures does not really show that..

It was a full rainbow ....so beautiful. I took the picture from the deck so I couldn't get the wide shot...
PS.... Are the overhead wires a hint that I live in a small town?!?!?

Another Doll

Meet Mrs Noteworthy, my latest creation...... She is little ( 5" ) a stump doll(free standing) She wears a dress with a music note pattern, pearl earrings and necklace, along with another pendant she always wears which was a gift from one of her music students. Her tote and hat are hand crocheted in a pretty shade of blue(her favorite) and over her shoulders she wears a hand felted wool stole. Those old bones need warmth even on the sunniest summer day.

She will be off to lunch on Saturday with some dear friends.I just know she will be the centre of attention.... She loves that. She will shower us with wonderful stories of her days at the Music Academy and of the time she spent with the New York Symphony where she played violin. Everyone is amazed that she still plays even tho she just celebrated her 98th birthday. Her fingers are knarled and stiff but she can still make those strings sing!

Mrs. Noteworthy will be a nice addition to my friend's Music Room.I know she will enjoy being there...

A Little Getaway

I was at Grand Bend,Ontario last week. It is a beautiful beach on the southern tip of Lake Huron, one of the Great Lakes.
A friend owns this darling cottage 5 minutes away from the beach. My quilting friends(The Mellow Yellows) decided to have a quilting retreat here. Carol, Karen, Heather and myself. Heather has been ill so she could only come for lunch one day.Carol, standing on the deck has a knee problem so she stayed close to home while Karen and I did some exploring.

We wanted to pay rent but they said no thanks, just enjoy. Gosh what a treat and we wanted to do something for them so we made them a quilt!!!! OF COURSE WE DID!! We are quilters .... It is a rag quilt and very easy.
We made the blocks before we went and assembled it as our first quilting project when we got there. Looks great and the gift was a real surprise and was accepted with great appreciation.

Karen brought her dog Nicky. She loved the walks we took her each day and the water was fun for her too.
These pictures were taken mid week and it is so peaceful with few people on the beach. It is a different story on the week ends where you can hardly find a spot on the beach to sit!
I think the mermaids here were all very happy and content as I didn't find any mermaid's tears..sigh..... oh well, maybe another time.

It was really a fun time with good friends.

WHAT IS GOING ON???

Blogger has added "Design" and I can't get to anything I want..
Anyone know how or what? I am so frustrated as I have spent ages here trying to do things

Beading Up A Storm

I have not had a lot of time for blogging...Some health issues keep cropping up, but I have managed to get some beading done.

Thought you would like to see the latest effort..

These are little kimonos made into a necklace .

Shocking pink with 24 kt. gold beads, and the second color combo is red and black with silver. The 18 inch chains are made to resemble cherry blossoms... I will be adding them to my Etsy shop if anyone is interested.

I must say I cannot stop beading..... I guess it is a good thing since I am finally back on track and creating somethingHere is what I have been doing ...I really enjoyed the earring pattern I recently learned, so I did it again using different size beads,, Interesting how it changes the look. The long dangly (is that a word!)ones are a new pattern I just tried. I think they are soooo pretty..Next I got out my beading loom and decided to try this again. I only had one class using it and I did have some trouble with the threading..... However along with some tutorials online I managed to get going.... My problem now is finishing it and what to do with all the threads you are left with...sigh.... back to finding more tutorials I am a pianist and this pattern was fun to do.... not able to get any sound out of it though!! haha
Ps....Sorry I lost the comments that were here.
I redid the post trying to get the pictures to enloarge!!! How annoying ....

Dolores has left a new comment on your post "BITTEN BY THE BEADING BUG": The beaded jewellery is gorgeous. Isn't it funny how one gets into these 'moods' or frenzies about creating.

Something New

I'm not sure what was going on with me but I have not been very productive lately.. Napping has been my best suit! I hate when that happens..
However I did manage to get my muse in gear and have been enjoying some beading..
I made this beaded scarf... Isn't it pretty... Sure to look nifty on a plain dress, blouse or jacket. It is mad of gold bugle beads and bronze seed beads, and has a fringe of a variety of different complimentary beads. It is 47 inches long.... sure took awhile but well worth the effort.

SNOWFLAKE EARRINGS

I made these darling "Snowflake Earrings" lastnight. A new pattern is always fun to figure out.

This pattern came from Jaycee Patterns

The PDF pattern was kindly offered free for the asking. Thanks Juanita for your generosity. I didn't have the bicon crystals as stated so I substituted with some 4 mm crystals.I think they worked just fine. It was an easy pattern to figure out and I LOVE the finished pair. I am going to try them in other colors now.LOL

Now.... I'm off to my rug hooking group.. tra-la-tra-le...I am beginning a new rug with flowers all around the border It was a good choice since I am learning shading Never a dull moment around here.

Have a great day everyone... stay tuned... who knows what will happen to-morrow.
