A Bump In The Road

I was happily creating in my studio using my embroidery machine for lettering on the cushions I am making......WHEN..... frustration took over as the machine refused to do any more!!!! Talk about "Bird's Nests!" They kept appearing under my work and when I cut them away the threads fell into the machine and I could not reach them...$%@##
Best laid plans of mice and men...... cats in this instance!!!!
So I have put my dancing shoes away and will direct my creativity in another direction until my machine is released from the hospital!!!
Stay tuned!!

Remembering

I was visiting Aida Costa's Blog and she posted a picture of a cushion she had made in Home Ec..
Well when that pattern came out I certainly was NOT in school!!!! but I saw the pattern and immediately fell in love with it. I made several for my friends.
Thanks Aida for jogging my memory,,,

Crazy Patch Journal

Here ia a journal cover I did in Crazy Patch...The image is from Mind Wide Open, It was an enjoyable project but a bit labor intensive for a beginner like me!! I tried and tried to do some silk roses but they were not pretty, I nearly wore out the fabric, so I put a bow applique on the spot and added sequins to cover all the little needle holes....Yeah Sequins!!! I did manage to do an iris which ILOVE!!! so you may see a lot of it in various pieces....;-}The cover to this journal was clear which I really paid no attention to until I placed it in the cover . At once I realized it needed to be lined... I will be aware of that the next time!!
Anyway I am pleased with the finished piece. I added a ribbon page keeper with a delicate butterfly attatched to it..

Wedding Anniversary

Here it is our wedding anniversary.. We were married September 11, 1954....(9/11) You do the math!!
My gown was chantilly lace and I carried gardenias.my favorite... Wish I had saved my dress but my girls wore it out playing with it!
We have had a wonderful life, launching 2 daughters and 2 sons from the nest, and making so many memories that last a lifetime...
Thanks to my dear Husband who has made it all possible...
I love you....
Don't think we will celebrate to-day as DH is recovering from a bronchial virus which I passed on!! Sorry dear.....
We will celebrate later on but for now a nice glass of wine should sooth your throat!

Miniature Scene

I had to do a miniature piece for a silent auction and this is what I decided on.
The piece itself (4''x4")was done with my embellishing machine, needlepunching the basic scene with wool rovings. Then I used my sewing machine to put in some birch trees, and finally finishing it with a bit of tatting , embroidery and beads..
I was pretty happy with it and proceeded to find a nice frame for it.
WELL..... after struggling to get it framed I could NOT get it to look centred. Don't know if it is because of the puzzle shape or what but it was not to be.
So.... I needlepunched it to another piece of wool and trimmed around the edge to look like a frame??!!??!! Since I photographed it on a black background, you cant see the black frame around the piece!
I applied a hanger on the back and considered it done!
Perhaps I will set this aside and do something else!
Bird's Nests

I was talking to Pat Winter about the bird's nests as I wanted to make some. I decided I would make a pin out of it rather than a ribbon for wearing around the neck..
This is my first and as you can see I need a bit more practice..... I also think I need a heavier wire.... but gosh they are really fun..
