Happy New Year

Hello dear friends
It has been a long time since I was here and for good reason
My heart was shattered when my dear husband Robbie passed away November 19th,2014.
We had our 60th wedding anniversary  Sept 11th, but do to his health problems our celebration had to be put on hold. He never did recover and Myeloma took him.
I do have a lot of good memories but sometimes they do not mend my broken heart just now.
I am trying to get back in the groove with my creativity but the process is hard.....it's hard being alone now with no one to share special moments.
I do have the support of my two beautiful daughter, but one lives in Calgary and one lives in London.
They come when they can and I appreciate their love.
Hopefully I will be attending a retreat at the end of the month with a girlfriend and looking forward to some light hearted moments.
I will post some  creative moments as soon as they are available

My friend was going on a cruise and was going to buy a new make up bag . I decided I would make one for her in her favourite colour. I knew the style I wanted but had no pattern so I looked up on the internet "Zippered Make up Bag".
This is what I found but no pattern so I watched the Utube  and drew up my own pattern.
I was totally happy with the end product and so was my friend.
It  IS pretty and the only hitch was I have a drawer full of zippers but did not have a 28 inch one!!!! so I had to go buy one!
Murphy's Law I guess haha

Miniature Dresden

This was one of the last projects I finished.
It is a miniature Dresden plate and measures 6 inches square.
It is hand pieced , appliquéd, and quilted .
I added the tassel for  extra interest.
It is now in a private collection.
Oh dear!  Time sure has a way of sliding by!
I cannot believe it has been so long since I was here.
It has been a rough road for me and hubby too with ill health.
We are out of the woods somewhat and hopefully will find some energy to start posting again.
Thanks to my followers for hanging in.
I really appreciate it.
See you soon

Back to watercolor painting after 30 years!!

This is the painting I did. The class was to do shore birds
I mounted the painting on a wooden panel and trimmed it to size and then I varnished it.
These were the ladies in the class and Anita Wood the teacher is in the red apron.
It was a fun class and I am excited to be back using the watercolors.

Great Grand Daughter's Special Quilt

Here is Dear Husband and I with our great grand daughter "Raya" just 1 day old...
Hard to believe this little darling belongs to our grandson Andrew and his partner  Jessica..
I was looking for a picture of the quilt I made her and here it is. It is quite large for right now but they plan to hang it in the nursery for now.

Hello dear friends...I am so sorry it has been so long since I posted.
Too many things going on, but here I am at last.
We became GREAT GRAND PARENTS a week ago to a darling wee girl named Raya. More about that later.
First I wanted to show you what my offerings were in the gallery show  so here
are the pictures
I'm afraid between Blogger and having to do this on my old computer since I don't know how to do this on my Windows 8, I could not write beside each picture to explain it. The first pair of mini quilts are 6"x9" the little sunbonnet Sue blocks are 1". I named it "Woops I Shrunk The Kid" The 2nd quilt is a familiar pattern called Umbrella Girls. I have a bed sized one like this.
The second set are Molas which are needle punched and then beaded.
The next picture has 2 pieces in it, the one is a beaded piece called "Starry Starry Night" from Vincent Van Gogh's painting. It is 4"x6"
the second piece is a miniature kimono done in black wool and embellished with beads and special bits and bobs. The next one is a seascape with lighthouse done in wool rovings, with embroidery and beads.
Next is another beaded piece 4"x6" called "Somewhere" from the song Over the Rainbow,
then there is a dresden plate quilt which is 6"x6" I named this one "Dinner For Four"
Next is a fall scene of the woods and leaves falling from the trees. It is done with wool rovings, beads and threads. These are my art doll pinsmy art doll pins which I mounted in a silk covered frame to keep them when not wearing them. One is a "Wild Woman" and one is an oriental design.
Hope you enjoyed seeing these pieces. I was very excited to learn some of the pieces were sold. Next I will try to blog about the new great grand baby and the quilt I made for her.

                                                          Hi to all my followers..
I can't believe how quickly time passes.
I feel I am dancing as fast as I can....
                                                                     So much to do.
I had a very successful Studio Tour...
No pictures my camera ran out of batteries! darn!

Had a fun day trip with my Fibre Art Group.
We went to Fergus, Ont. to see the Thread Works display
held at the Wellington County Museum.
It was fabulous.. there again no pictures but check out the links to see it all
We then went to see the Grand National Quilt display in Kitchener, Ont.
                                                        The quilts were WONDERFUL.
We had a lovely lunch and then visited a quilt shop for some retail therapy.

I  am now getting ready for a 4 day retreat
                                                   with my Mellow Yellow  girlfriends.
It is 10 minutes from the lake so that will be heavenly..
Maybe an opportunity for a walk on the beach
Lots of sewing, eating ,chatting, and a good time for sure..
Hope to have some pictures to share next week when I get home..
(will be taking extra batteries for my camera LOL)

In the beginning of April I attended the Oxford Quilters Guild semi annual retreat.
I think this is the 18th year. we have such a good time

This is our snack table!!! Well we need energy to sew!!
This is one of the quilts one gal was working on( a thousand Pyramids) It is in 30's fabric for a special wee person.
This is the one I was doing. I got all the blocks finished.. Noe to get it to-gether with a border.
I bought this apron kit when we were doing some retail therapy before the retreat. I made it on the Fri evening.. It is a pretty apron and had 2 pockets which were designed to match the design so they are rather invisible

Needless to say it was a fun 3 days.
THEN when I got home I had to busy myself working on some things for the
Artists of Oxford County Studio tour comin up May 4&5
I was working on some raggyy jackets
This is a red one

this one has the green tones
a very comfy jacket for this time of year
I was working on some bracelets
a couple of new designs,
and a lot of fun to make.
I have a few other things on the go but I will take a break and do that another time so stay tuned
