WELCOME FALL

I thought I would share the beautiful colors we have around our home.
I like to do a little decorating so every year I bring out "Charlie" our scarecrow, and add a few fall mums and a pumpkin

Talk about a beautiful carpet of red & gold

And this is our new tree being planted
What an amazing piece of equipment.....
Digs the hole and comes back with the tree loaded the same size as the hole...
and there it is ...easy as pie..
I just love it,
It is a ten year old  red maple...
FYI...these picutres of the planting were taken on my DH camera so they are smaller..

It was planted on my birthday this week.. what a lovely  gift  as I have wanted this for ages..
Thank you DH :)

WHAT'S NEW WITH ME

This picture was taken of me at our  quilt show ...
We had a challenge to make a piece reflecting  a proverb.
Mine is the clock that actually works and all the  dots around the face are coins.
My proverb was "Time Is Money",I used an oval stretched canvas so it would have a firm base..and then covered it with a piece of fabric I machine quilted.
I bought a clock at the $$$ store and used the workings from that.PERFECT!

I actually had the baking bug and this is what I made this week..Cinnamon Buns...I have had these on my mind with drools coming out of my mouth for such a long time!!!They are soo yummy... I used dried cherries since I had no raisins,,,, they turned out very tasty. I made the dough in my bread machine and went from there...I did make an orange cream cheese  icing which was a nice addition. I might add this is not the thing to make when one is trying to lose a few pounds!! However... I did put them in the freezer and just left a couple out!:) The rest are still in the freezer and I have not heard them calling my name....YET!

This is what I made to-day... a new ironing board cover..A few days ago my friends and I went shopping at a fabric store..Not having anything in mind ...one of the gals told us about this stuff she used to make an iron tote/pressing cloth ...well I never heard of it before and I was tickled  pink"LOLThis one cost me all of $2.00... what a deal eh??
BTW the leaves are falling and the landscapes are beautiful in red and gold.. Must get a picture..
Now I am busy working on some bags..stay tuned  and have a great day..

ADDICTIONS

I feel I have addictions to things I like.
Yesterday I learned to do these oragami dresses.
Later in the day I tried different sizes, using the pages out of an old phone book.
Then.. as my thought process developed I thought it would be cuter if I added a ribbon sash and a charm,  so..
Here they are....so cute.
I  cannot promise I will not do anymore to-day:)

LATEST ACTIVITIES

I belong to a Fabric postcard online group.
One of the latest trades was to use a postage stamp.
A big thanks to the one that had the idea. It has become one of my favorites.
I had a packet of charm squares for boys, and in it was this piece with airplanes...Perfect!
This one went to a blogging  friend.
Hope she likes it:)

This picture depicts a long time spent on Utube trying to learn needle tatting.
Yesterday I reached success and finally got  my attempt to resemble
 something
I think these will be a nice accent on some lavender sachets I am making..
Now I am off to vacuum my studio!! Lord knows it needs it..
Hope y'all have a wonderful day.

Fabric Postcards

I was part of a Fabric Postcard Exchange and this was the one I made.
We had to use a postage stamp and go from there..
I think this has opened up a whole new train of thought..

I miss her and think of her every day.
She was not only pretty, but she was the sweetest, kindest person and such a good Mother
Here she is holding me... a little chub at 6 months old.

Here's some flowers for you Mom

LOOK WHAT I GOT

The Postman was busy this morning.....
I t took me a moment to remember what I was expecting.. Oh Dear!!
Sometimes shopping on line late at night leaves me wondering!!!
First of all I got my Ver Day Paint Kit....It's all your fault Lottie!!! VBG
(check out Lottie's Charms that she used the VerDay on)
This parcel came from a Canadian source called
Pewter Art in Calgary Alberta  and was priced at $29.99.
A very good price after all the searching I did online...
Ever since I saw what Lottie was doing with this I wanted it!
I think I will use it to create some special metal journal  covers,
and the other idea I have is to do some of my doll faces that I create to give them that special look.
Woops I gotta go get a tissue, I am drooling :)

Here was my 2nd parcel from Amazon..These books are jam packed full of all kinds of ideas.I was especially anxious to get Sue Bleiweiss' book (The Sketchbook Challenge).... an online blogging friend. It is a fabulous book Sue. I can hardly separate myself from it :)

Artist Sale at the Elmhurst

Here I am at my table of goodies.
These events are always fun as I get to see people I would not otherwise connect with.
The weather was not good.
Thunderstorms and heavy rain  made me happy I was inside.
Some of the artists were outside under their canopys....Not fun!
Since this was a summer event, the sales were not too good.
I did manage to sell almost one of everything  so I was pleased.
I will be putting some things in my Etsy shop later to-day and will let you know.

Finally Caught Up.

I have been out of commission for a bit on the verge of insanity... No kidding..
It was brutal.
My doctor is on holidays so I went to Emerge.
I had a rash all over my chest and legs.
It was so itchy I thought I would lose my mind!
Turns out I had a Yeast Skin Rash.... never heard of it before but apparently common to diabetics..Guess it loves "sugar"(me too<3)
I have been on Prednisone along with  a steroid ointment.
The prednisone shoots my blood sugar off the chart, so I have been on insulin for  now.Hope to get back to my usual oral meds this week.
Happy to report I am OK now..Just another bump in the road of life.
After all this I finally got back to my work and finished up these dolls. The order was weighing heavily on my mind but I just had no time to sew since my hands were busy scratching!

These are the "Hot Tubbies" each wearing their own style:) you can't see in their bags but the assortment runs from knitting  to little books of Seduka Puzzles, Knitting books and cook books..LOL
And.. here are the Raggedy Anns. They are regaining their popularity happy to say.  They  encourage imagination which seems to be a lost cause nowadays...
The hair is individual strands hand knotted and does take awhile but it's there to last forever!!

So now with all that off my list I have some playtime.
I was looking at some Utube bits on Zentangles and find that very fascinating, I will show you what I learned later..
I have been working on some more journals and some fibre art pieces and inbetween I am continuing to clean out cupboards and closets...ICK!.. but a necessary evil!
Needless to say I continue to amuse myself daily and  will share my progress as time permits..
Thank you for stopping by and leaving comments.
I look forward to your visits which always makes me smile. <3

Fun With Dolls

I have been working on some dolls ......Variety is the spice of life so "They" say :)

The first picture is of some pin dolls... called "Wild Women".
                          They measure 2 1/2" tall.
They are so much fun to do and being creative...... the sky's the limit.
These tiny dolls are called Waldorf Dolls.. measuring 2" tall.
No features and all hand done..
They rest in a sweet little leaf that I have hand embroidered.
THey are made from wool felt and the leaf fits in the palm of your hand.
So Sweet and the little people just love them.

A Watercolor Journal in Shocking Pink Silk

I had such a time trying to get this picture to go the right way...sigh!
Anyway after wasting too much time I'm sure you can figure out that the bottom of the picture is where it opens and the gold stripe is the bottom. That being said the Journal has 60 pages of 140 coldpress watercolor paper and measures 9 1/2 " wide and 6 1/2 "  long.

I was gifted with some sari silk  fabric with goldwork on it. I have had it for quite awhile wondering what special thing I would use it on. This idea seemed to fit the bill. Thank you to Phllis King for this  fabric. The back of the journal has a lovely flocked silk fabric
It wasa perfect match in color.

The back flap of the  journal has a roomy pocket for notes and sketches
I used a very pretty batik for the inside. The journal has three sewn in sinatures.....lots of room for some watercolor paintings..
The closure is a special gold button I have been saving forever and since I had no cord that seemed right I made a cord out of some of the silk and sewed it with gold thread..
I think that is all I can tell you about this beautiful journal(If I do say so myself:)))))
If I don't sell this one it will be in my Etsy shop next week.

Another Bag

When I saw this fabric I fell in love :)
I paired it with a faux yellow leather and Voila!!!!
It looks so summery.
I should have taken a photo of the inside but I forgot
It has one large zippered pocket and one small zippered pocket. Lots of room for everything. I hope I sell it at the Artist Sale this week-end.

This is the Ultimate in Miniatures:)

I had some small pieces of journal paper and some leather  that I just could not throw away..
What do I do make another mini journal only this one is only 1" square!
I must say it was a wee bit awkward sewing in the pages but I DID IT!!
Did someone say there was a cure?!?!?!:)

MORE Journals

It's an ADDICTION:):):)

As some of you know I have been making some leather covered mini journals.
The smaller ones are 2 1/2" and I  gave them a key chain attatchment...
The bigger ones are about 3 3/4" . I used a ruler to give an idea of the size. They contain cold press watercolor paper and would be ideal for the artist on the go for thumbprint sketches.
I am getting these ready for an artist sale in 2 weeks..Never a dull Moment!

KIWI CAROLE'S JOURNAL WORKSHOP....DONE:)

WELL!!! Here I go again!
I do not know what I did except waste an hour publishing the post about  my lace journal..
Sorry to those that took the time to come see....and there was nothing!

Anyway I was so excited to finally finish Carole Brungar's workshop on an altered lace journal. It was a wonderful experience. Carol gives a fabulous workshop taking you by the hand with every step. Thank you Carole for dragging me out of my box!!
This is the front cover of the journal

This is the back
I used 400 cold press watercolor paper and decorated each page with distress inks trying different ideas. That was fun but I should have worn gloves!!!
I left lots of blank spots so there would be room for writing thoughts etc.

I ran some fabric sheets through the printer and used some of my faves.
These images were done on the silk sheets, and I LOVE the way they just melded into the page with the colors staying true.

The lettering I did on my embroidery machine
and the lace bits I have been saving for a special occasion.
This was a letter and an envelop written in the 1800's. I put a clear envelope on the page to put them in.

I get used books they sell at our library($1.00 for a grocery bag full!!!) so the little card holders at the back are good to use also and add interest
This was a little thread painting I did of a sunrise.. I always wondered what I would do with it:)
Love butterflies
and peacocks
The last page has a cute piece I did on the embroidery machine.."Gone Fishing" seemed appropriate
The tag for the book mark has a butterfly sitting on a silk leaf with an added tassel
That's all I will take time to show.
I have lots more pages but this will give you an idea of how I did the book.
Now I feel it is too pretty to actually write in!!!
Thanks to everyone that stopped by for a peek
